Dana Higby

Hello! I’m Dana, the artist and owner of Fire Creek. I started crafting artisan accent tile for homes across the country back in 2012 in Meridian, Idaho. I am a self-taught artist with nothing but the curiosity to learn and determination to better the art that I am so passionate about creating. In July 2022, we took a big leap and left the only state that I have ever known to move to acreage in Red Canyon near Lander, Wyoming. While my tile work allows me to focus on the beauty and wonder of our natural world through realism, my functional pottery allows me to encourage curiosity of the natural world through playfulness and joy. I decorate my slab built functional pottery with a technique called Modern Mishima to create bright, colorful, and fun designs. If you can’t find me in the studio, head to the backcountry and look for the wildlife. I am more comfortable in nature than I am in any city, I am happiest when I am playing in the mud.
