Alchemy's 15 Days of Recipes - Saltine Toffee

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or 5 chocolate bars
3/4 cup pecans, finely chopped
Preheat oven to 400.
Line a cookie sheet (with a lip around the entire pan) with saltines.
In sauce pan, bring butter and sugar to boil. Boil and stir for 3 minutes.
Pour mixture over crackers immediately and spread out the sugar/butter mixture evenly.
Bake in oven for 5-6 minutes; no more.
Then layer chocolate chips or chocolate bars on top of hot crackers. Let set for about 5 minutes and, when soft, spread chocolate evenly. While still warm, top with pecans and press nuts down if necessary.
Cool thoroughly (I like to put it in the fridge) before breaking into pieces.
