Joel Newquist is Alchemy's Artist of the Month!

A man of few words, Joel Newquist prefers to express himself through his hammer and chisel--and what an impression he makes with those woodworking tools! Joel, the man behind Sweetwater Rustics, is the master of dovetail joints and a wizard with beetle kill pine. One look at his fabulous furniture designs and one knows they are looking at a quality piece of art, whether it is a multiple-drawer dresser or an amazingly artistic cutting board. Not only does Joel build beautiful objects for your home, he's also been pretty handy around the gallery. Alchemy can thank Joel for the many shelves, pedestals and various display pieces that help to make our gallery a unique place to visit! Stop by Alchemy and check out some of Joel's newest creations. He has brought Alchemy new work for all to enjoy now that the holiday season is over.

Here's what Joel has to say about his work:

"I have been a finish carpenter for nearly 40 years and have been building furniture for over 15 years. Much of my work is inspired by old Shaker-Mission and Stickley style furniture. I love working with beetle kill pine and other salvaged wood as it allows me to be involved with everything from the logging to the very last coat of finish. Life is best when I am holding a saw, fly rod or grandbaby in my hands."
